SummeTerm 2017

Calstock Community Primary School

 Dear parents and children,

Welcome back to school for the last term of the year. We hope you enjoyed your Easter break.

In class three, Mrs Yates will continue to teach on Wednesday mornings. Mrs Cherrington will be the teaching assistant Monday - Thursday. Mrs Sutcliffe is our teaching assistant on Fridays.

This term will be a little different from the previous two terms, due to SATs, the year 6 trip to London and many exciting, creative projects to look forward to. We have three weeks in school before the year 6s sit their SATs tests. We will be revising the key areas of maths, reading, spelling, punctuation and grammar in these three weeks. SATs will be in the week commencing Monday 8th May.

In this time, however, we will also be making a giant for the May Fest in Callington, which hopefully some of you may wish to attend. We also have keyboards hired for the summer term again, with which we shall be composing and performing!

After SATs, we will be carrying out various projects: we will further our knowledge of the world in geography by planning a trip around the world; we shall be getting creative in the kitchen and undertaking a sewing project, alongside some art; in history we shall explore the rites and rituals of the Mayan civilisation. Of course, the year 6s will be creating something special by way of remembering their time at Calstock School. It should be an exciting term!

All children will need their P.E. kit in school daily. This term our P.E. lessons are on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Homework will continue to go out weekly on a Friday and is due in the following Friday. Spellings will also go out on a Friday and will be tested on the subsequent Friday. Celebration assembly, where we celebrate the children’s achievements, will be held every fortnight on a Tuesday morning and we welcome as many parents as possible.

If you wish to discuss anything, or have any questions, please come and talk to us.

Yours sincerely,
