Spring Term 2
Monday 20th February 2017
Welcome to the second half of the spring term 2017. We are going to be continuing our ‘To the Rescue’ topic for a couple more weeks and running our new topic ’The Potting Shed’ alongside it.
The topic web details what new subjects and topics will be covered. Our rescue control station will soon become a potting shed and as the weather begins to improve we will spend more time outside observing nature. Please make sure your child’s wellies and waterproof trousers still fit comfortably and are available every day.
Year 1 children will be working hard on their ‘Alien speaking’ to sound out phonetically decodable real and nonsense words, please keep an eye in their reading record for new words to practice sounding out and blending together.
We have a visit planned to Mr Walton’s garden on Wednesday 22nd February and will be talking to him about how he cares for his garden and the plants he grows. The children do not require anything for this visit as it is already covered in our annual consent form and will take place in the morning only.
We also have a visit from a local paramedic planned who will drive his ambulance to school. We will have the opportunity to see the equipment on board and talk to him about his job.
If you have any queries about our new topic or have any concerns please do not hesitate to talk to me.
