Autumn Term 2017

Dear Parents

Welcome to the start of the autumn term. The topics this term are ‘Who Am I?’, ‘Wild Weather’ and after half term: ‘Festivals’. The topic web includes details about the subjects we will be learning this half term.

P.E. is on a Monday and a Friday. Please ensure all uniform and P.E. kit is labelled. Your child needs a water bottle in school, we will re-fill and rinse it during the week and send it home on Fridays for a proper wash.

Homework will begin next Friday. Please return it each week by the following Thursday. If you have any concerns or queries about the homework please talk to me. Try to listen to your child read every day, even if it is just a few pages, it will really help them become confident eager readers. We will try our best to listen to them in school and change their reading book. If we have been unable to, you are more than welcome to change their book. Your child will sometimes have letter sounds or words to learn. We will try to include game suggestions in the pack.

Show and tell is on Fridays. On Fridays, children may bring a home toy or item of interest to school. They will have the opportunity before school begins to talk about it with their peers and will be encouraged to draw a picture and write about it in their morning books. On occasions we will ask the children to bring in an item related to our topic, details will be included in their homework books. Please remind your child not to bring home toys to school on other days.

We will try to make as much use of our local area as possible and plan lessons in and around our village. To make this possible, I will require additional adult supervision. If you are able offer your time to accompany us please complete the volunteer form and Mrs Maunder will follow it up with the necessary DBS check forms which is a requirement of all volunteers.

Kind regards
