On the week beginning the 21st of May, Penny Allen came to Calstock to work with Years 4, 5 and 6 on their cycling skills.

Years 4 and 5 took part in the Bikeability Level 1 Cycle Training Course. This aimed to encourage and develop their basic cycle control skills, as well as give them confidence to use their cycles more often.

Year 6 children took part in the Bikeability Level 2 Cycle Training Course. This aimed to:

  • Encourage and develop safe cycling skills.
  • Develop positive attitudes towards road users.
  • Increase their knowledge and understanding of the road and traffic environment.
  • Give them the confidence to use their bikes on local roads.

The children also learnt about cycle safety, the importance of looking after your bike and what to wear to be safe.

All the children who took part really enjoyed the experience. A big thank you to Penny Allen for running this course, to all the parent helpers and to Mrs Liddicott for organising it.
